Crisis De-Escalation Training

Presenter: Michael Simpson

  • 28 years of opportunity in the people business.
  • BA at Abilene Christian University in 1983
  • MA in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1988.
  • Broad residential and outpatient experience in direct service and management with both adults and children.
  • He enjoys group and individual supervision and training.
  • Currently works at Talbert House Turtle Creek in Lebanon, Ohio.

Objectives For This Training Are:

  • Gain knowledge about brain development, client thinking/behavior and de-escalation
  • Learn to identify triggers and predictive factors to assess a crisis
  • Learn the significance of using the appropriate level of intervention
  • Learn how to create a consistent milieu for intervention
  • Learn and practice verbal competency in de-escalation techniques
  • Learn individual and team intervention strategies
  • Learn how to use remediation to assist client growth and development
  • Learn how staff can grow through debriefing
